Pittsburgh native and New York City based artist, Callahan Malone, explores the relationship between effort and surrender through yoga, painting, and collage. She is inspired by the way a new home for found objects organically appears after careful application of paint and texture to a surface, as if their relationship already existed energetically. Her work is to remain open and sensitive to the potential of found objects and experiences and the idea that, under the right circumstances, a meaningful connection between what she has intentionally created, and what she has passively received will always emerge. Evidence of this process lives in the evolution of marks visible in the space between layers.
